The MDA Radiography Training Kit is a convenient, affordable way for dental assistants to obtain radiography training now required under Michigan law (see rules below). Since the MDA began offering the kit in 1992, thousands of dental assistants have been trained using this unique, self-paced course.
Using the MDA Radiography Training Kit, dentists train assistants in their own practices, eliminating the need for classrooms, travel and time away from work.
How it works
Assistants read the textbook, watch the videotape and answer review questions in the workbook. Dentists then supervise the assistant taking two full-mouth series with bitewings and record those results on forms in the workbook. At the end of training, dentists supervise the assistant taking a closed-book exam, and the exam and forms from the workbook are returned to the MDA for grading. A certificate and continuing education credits are awarded for successful course completion.
Features of the training include:
- Everything needed for each dental assistant and office to comply with Michigan law.
- Cephalometric and panoramic radiograph techniques; clinical training optional.
- Textbooks, study guide, workbook, training video, exam and certificate.
- Winner of the prestigious American Dental Association "Golden Apple" award (1993) for best new membership service benefit.
Cost of the complete kit (textbook, MDA workbook, video and exam) is $189 for MDA member dentists and $259 for non-member dentists. Cost of a partial kit (MDA workbook and exam), which may only be purchased once a complete kit has been purchased by a practice, is $129 for MDA members and $199 for non-member dentists. Certificates of completion are issued upon successful passage of exam.
