The number of cases of swine influenza virus (A/H1N1) around the country have been spreading and now include Michigan. This flu is passed by person to person contact through the coughing or sneezing of an infected person. It can also be passed by touching a surface with the virus and then touching your eyes, mouth or nose. The virus can live two hours or more on surfaces such as a doorknob, desk or table. The American Dental Association has posted information about the virus along with recommendations for what dental team members can do to prevent the spreading in a dental environment.
