The annual observance of children's dental health began as a one-day event in Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 3, 1941. The American Dental Association held the first national observance of Children's Dental Health Day on Feb. 8, 1949. This single day observance became a week-long event in 1955, and in 1981 the program was extended to a month-long celebration known today as National Children's Dental Health Month.
Classroom Presentation Resources

Give Kids a Smile Planning Resources
Give Kids a Smile events take place in dental offices throughout the nation. The ADA offers a wealth of planning resources to help with your event. If you are hosting a treatment event in Michigan, you may wish to use the following consent or combined health history/consent form for patients attending your event. These forms have been reviewed by MDA and ADA legal counsel. If you need additional assistance, contact April Stopczynski at 517-346-9417.
Let Us Know About Your Event!
MDA’s new Member Promotion Program is ready to help promote your event!
Submit event information online at least two weeks prior to the event and the MDA will send a media alert to your local media inviting them to cover your event. Missed the deadline or already had your event? No problem – the MDA can still distribute a post-event press release to your local media. Please include high resolution pictures of your event if possible. If you have questions about the Member Promotion Program, contact the MDA’s Stefani Olds at 517-346-9429.
