Michigan Donated Dental Services (DDS)

Volunteer dentists participating with the Michigan Donated Dental Services (DDS) program have dedicated their talents to provide free comprehensive dental treatment to more than 5,800 of Michigan’s most vulnerable citizens since 1995. These dentists provide once-in-a-lifetime desperately needed care to elderly, permanently disabled or medically fragile patients who are low income and have no other means of getting the dental treatment they need. Many of these patients may need their dental issues addressed before they can receive live-saving medical care such as transplants and invasive surgeries where their poor oral health puts them at greater risk for complications and even death. Others may have poor oral health as a result of aggressive cancer treatments or medications.

Through a generous annual grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the donation of services from dentists and dental laboratories, the Michigan Donated Dental Services (DDS) program is able to donate more than $1 million dollars in care each year.

The Michigan Dental Association is proud to announce that this great program is now a program of the MDA and a licensee of Dental Lifeline Network. Two full-time coordinators work diligently to ensure that qualified applicants have the support they need to complete their recommended treatment plans by coordinating care with dentists who provide care in their own offices, and arranging donated lab services and materials.
