Foundation Loses a Great Friend in Dr. Matt Uday

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of a Michigan Dental Association Foundation Board Member: Dr. Matthew Uday.

Dr. Uday was a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and served as a student liaison to the Michigan Dental Association Foundation Board during his junior and senior years.  After graduating, he joined the board as a full member and was soon promoted to chairperson of the Scholarship Committee. During his tenure he formulated the scholarship application and streamlined the process for dental, dental hygiene and dental assistant students to apply for scholarships. He cared deeply about the students and enjoyed reviewing and meeting all the candidates and recipients.

Dr. Uday was in charge of the annual scholarship reception and insisted that the students see the Michigan Dental Association in action. Every year he would introduce them to the MDA House of Delegates during the Annual Session.

In addition to his work with student scholarships, Dr. Uday participated yearly in other Foundation events including the Golf Outing, Car Raffle, and Silent Auction.  Whenever help was needed, Dr. Uday would always have the time to assist in whatever the project. He stepped down from the Foundation to take care of his health, and family but was still a consultant on the Board.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Matthew Udays wife, Megan, son Ethan, parents and family.  Dr. Uday will be missed, but not forgotten.

An expression of sympathy may be made to Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church or the Michigan Dental Association Foundation.
