Donate Precious Scrap Metal and Help the Foundation

A new program from D-MMEX, endorsed by the Michigan Dental Association, allows you to rid your practice of precious scrap metal while also financially helping the Michigan Dental Association Foundation.

Grant application for 2010 are now being considered, the Michigan Dental Association Foundation has announced.

Grants are available for both oral health education projects and access to care projects located in the state of Michigan. The deadline for submitting grant requests is June 1, 2010.

MDA Foundation: On Target for 2010

The next time somebody says that the dental profession needs to “do something” about access to care, you might want to mention the Michigan Dental Association Foundation.

When you hear people gripe that we’re not doing enough to promote oral health, feel free to mention the Michigan Dental Association Foundation again.

And when somebody complains that organized dentistry needs to “do something” about the high cost of dental education, be sure to remind them of the Michigan Dental Association Foundation, too.

The grand prize winner of the 2010 Michigan Dental Association Foundation Car Raffle will have a choice of three exciting prizes. Only 400 tickets are available priced at $100 each, so your chances of winning are even greater this year.

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation has lost a great volunteer and even greater friend with the passing of Dr. Matthew Uday. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Dr. Uday served the Foundation in numerous capacities and was especially instrumental in the development of its scholarship program. His deep caring resonated through every project to which he lended his talents.

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation is proud to support the American Dental Association traveling exhibit “Your Spitting Image” through a special grant. The exhibit can be seen at Lansing’s Impression Five Science Center and takes visitors on an interactive odyssey through the mouth to learn the science behind saliva.

Foundation now Oversees MDA Relief Fund

The MDA House of Delegates unanimously approved a resolution in April that would realign the MDA Committee on Relief — and its corresponding assets — within the Michigan Dental Association Foundation.

Foundation has a New Name

Our new name better identifies our organization as part of the Michigan Dental Association. But our purpose hasn’t changed. We’re the MDA’s philanthropic arm, providing funds to fund access to care programs and student scholarships statewide.

Goodwill for Goodfellows of Detroit

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation is collaborating with The Old Newsboys Goodfellows of Detroit again this holiday season to provide oral health kits to Detroit area children in need.

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets for the Foundation’s Dodge Journey raffle. The prize drawing was held during the MDA Annual Session, with Michigan Dental Association President Dr. Joanne Dawley drawing the winning tickets.

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation welcomed this year’s Mitus Scholarship recipients to the MDA House of Delegates, who were then honored at a special reception during the 2009 Michigan Dental Association Annual Session in Lansing on April 23. This year’s recipients were Nashwa Aziz, Cindy Chapman, Andrew DeHaan, Anthony Fasi, Erin Huber, Elizabeth Noorman, Matthew Ora and Jane Stieber.

The Michigan Dental Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of its 2008-09 scholarship program. The Foundation annually awards student scholarships to dental, dental hygiene, and dental assisting students, encouraging them to continue to pursue careers in dentistry, dental education, and the allied dental health fields.

2007 Michigan Dental Foundation Smile-On Golf Outing Highlights

The sixth annual Michigan Dental Foundation Golf Outing proved to be another great success, with more than 110 golfers hitting the fairways of the Lakes of Taylor Golf Course on May 2.

The Michigan Dental Foundation has established a memorial fund in Dr. Charles Defever’s name, the first chairman of the Michigan Dental Foundation.

The 2008 Give Kids a Smile Day was another huge success and the Michigan Dental Foundation was there to lend a hand.

The Michigan Dental Foundation honored recipients of its 2007-08 scholarships at a special reception in Grand Rapids.
