The Michigan Dental Association Foundation provided more than 200 children’s oral hygiene kits during the second annual Boo Bash, held Oct. 29 at Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor.
Dental students at the University of Michigan School chapter of the American Association of Pediatric Student Dentist staffed a booth at the event. At the booth, the student dentists dressed up in costume and handed out the oral hygiene instructions to the trick-or-treaters and parents. The students also used hands-on models to demonstrate good brushing techniques and discussed nutrition and oral hygiene with the parents.
The Foundation’s oral hygiene kits included an age appropriate toothbrush, toothpaste, stickers and brushing instructions.
“We hope to continue with our efforts to educate not only children, but also parents about pediatric oral health care needs,” said Scott Michels, president of the AAPSD chapter at UM. “Our goal is to help children live healthier lives.”
This is the second year the Foundation supported the Boo Bash project, and its members applaud the initiative of the AAPSD in working with children and their parents. |
