Early prevention and the age 1 dental visit are important but it can be difficult to find a dentist to treat infants and very young children.
The Points of Light project serves to help parents find dentists who treat infants and young children. Points of Light also seeks to educate physicians, families and dentists on the importance of having a dental visit by age 1.

Michigan dentists participate in a variety of state and community programs that offer low-cost or free dental services to individuals in need. These programs offer help to seniors, low-income individuals, patients on Medicaid, disabled, handicapped or institutionalized individuals, children, and others.
